Left Hook IO Plans
Plan Pricing Details & Credits Explained
Before You Begin
Below this box lies a detailed explanation of Left Hook's many pricing options and IO Plan policies.
Before diving into this detailed explanation, be sure to review these two overview pages first:
These two pages offer important context. Be sure to read them first before attempting to understand our complex pricing system detailed below.
Ready to dive into the details? Your IO Plan purchasing journey begins with Step 1 below.
Step 1: Ready Report
Our process begins with your purchase of Ready Report.
Among several useful sections, the final Ready Report will outline our current understanding of the various integrations you'd like to enable, some or all of which you'd like Left Hook to build, depending on the cost.
As part of the Ready Stage, expect to attend at least one videoconference meeting (via Zoom) at the beginning, and one at the conclusion to review our findings and recommendations.
The Ready Report will suggest a budget of "IO Credits" that fit into one of our six IO Plans. When you're ready to discuss purchase of an IO Plan, we'd want to review that proposed budget and adjust based on your feedback.
Step 2: Understanding "IO Credits"
While initially confusing, over time you'll come to appreciate why we price our work using "IO Credits."
After building connectors and apps for almost four years for over 30 different SaaS companies, we've learned that each client has a unique API, a focused set of needs, and their own mindset for evaluating the value of outsourced integrations.
A credit-based system offers a flexible and transparent pricing structure that scales easily to match size and complexity of your unique integration. Coupled with a subscription, you'll be able to budget this work on a predictable monthly or annual cost. Because we allow customers to purchase Off-Plan Credits anytime to augment your credit balance, you and Left Hook will both enjoy both predictability and flexibility.
Your finished Ready Report will include a very detailed pricing breakdown that will reflect the interplay between the size and complexity of your API (i.e. number of endpoints, number of fields within endpoints, relative usability of any single endpoint, etc.) and your desired functionality
Over time, you'll experience a consistent but nuanced logic to our pricing that is a hard to grasp in the abstract.
We find our customers going from "huh?" to "ah ha!" shortly after negotiating their first Integration Opportunity Order (more on those below.)
Step 3: Choosing an IO Plan
Once we've worked together to determine your desired integration(s) and the number of "IO Credits" needed to achieve them, we will recommend one of six different IO Plans (chart below).
All six options require an annual commitment collected monthly by ACH or credit card.
When paying monthly, you are allowed to use half of your total annual "IO Credits" in the first six months of the Plan Year, and the remainder in the second six months.
When pre-paying for your IO Plan in advance, you are allowed to use all of your available "IO credits" in the first six months of the Plan Year. We call this "unlocking;" agreeing to prepay in full "unlocks" your credits, and thus we refer to your IO Plan as "unlocked."
Step 4: Required Add-On Costs
In addition to your monthly IO Plan fee, Left Hook charges two other separate line items that merit explanation:
Add-On 1) The Required "Launch Pack" for $1,000 (One-Time Fee)
Included with any/all IO Plans is a one-time, upfront purchase of five "IO Credits" for $1,000 (our Launch Pack). These five credits are in addition to the credits provided through your IO Plan.
The Launch Pack buys credits you'll need to kick off your first integration build. It also gives Left Hook some immediate funding to spend valuable time thoroughly scoping your first integration build.
Add-on 2) The Required Annual Support Plan ($200/month ongoing)
Additionally, you will also subscribe to our Annual Support Plan in the same transaction.
The Annual Support Plan is billed at $200 per month. However, the first month is always free (removed by automatic coupon code.) You won't see this charge applied to your account until Month 2 of your Plan Year.
Here is an example first invoice/purchase, assuming a Bronze IO Plan paid monthly:
Launch Pack for $1,000
Annual Support Plan for $0/month (first month free; $200/month after)
Bronze IO Plan for $245/month
TOTAL: $1,245 initial charge; $445/month per month afterward
Total "IO Credits" Purchased: 20
Despite all this explanation, it's important that you also review our even-more detailed Terms of Service, to which you will agree as part of the checkout process when purchasing any IO Plan.
Step 5: Signing an Opportunity Order
After purchasing an IO Plan and deciding on the first Integration Opportunity you'd like us to build, we will engage with you in a very precise scoping discussion.
This process quickly leads to the writing and signing of an Opportunity Order.
An Opportunity Order lays out what we will build, the number of "IO Credits" to be used, the functionality to be delivered, and any other important considerations we want to formally document.
We ask for a client signature on any Opportunity Order before proceeding. Think of this step as the final triple-check before your"IO Credits" start to expend.
We will produce an IO Order each time we are about to expend your credits; you will need to sign each Opportunity Order, thus ratifying our agreement to proceed.
Step 5: The Development Process and Communication
At the beginning of drafting the first Opportunity Order, Left Hook will provide you access to both our communication and project tracking channels.
Our preferred method of communication is through a shared Slack channel, with email being our secondary (and less preferred) channel.
We will also provide you access to our private project management system, where you can track the progress of various tasks through a kanban-style interface.
At various points during the development process, a face-to-face meeting might be most efficient. Left Hook will schedule such a call with you via Zoom Videoconferencing as needed.
Step 6: Ongoing Support
As also explained in Step 4 above, we require an Annual Support Plan to be purchased concurrently with any IO Plan.
Our Annual Support Plan is distinctly different from our IO Plan; it provides a limited number of hours allotted every month. These hours are "use it or lose it."
Make sure to review the very detailed explanation of how our Support works below. We also have distinct Terms of Service for Support that require your agreement upon purchase.
Step 7. Ongoing Work
When you're ready for a second Opportunity Order, we will return to the deep scoping discussion. Before we expend any additional"IO Credits", we will be sure to present another Opportunity Order for signature as per Step 4 above.
Step 8. Upgrading Your Plan or Purchasing Off-Plan Credits
As the Plan Year progresses, you may decide you want to expend more credits than purchased in your initial IO Plan. At any time you may upgrade your IO Plan to a higher level to access more "IO Credits". Doing so will reset your plan year to the date of upgrade, but you retain any "IO Credits" that you've already purchased.
Need a few more credits, but not interested in upgrading and renewing? We sell Off-Plan credits to fill any gap without committing you to an ongoing higher tier plan. Off Plan Credits are $250/credit prepaid.
IMPORTANT! Read of Full Terms of Service in Advance of Purchase
Yup, this is complicated stuff. That's why we wrote extensive Terms of Service and expect you to read them before purchasing, at which time you'll have to agree to them.
We wrote our terms in plain English because we want all our clients to understand the mutual commitment made under this credit-based model.
